Winter is anything candied season, but maple candied pecans is extra winter-y, holiday vibes. The maple, cinnamon and the cayenne pepper add depth and spiciness, which work great for salad toppings or even as a snack on its own. Give it a try and enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1&1/3 cups pecans
Instructions:
-In a pot, add the maple, brown sugar, melted butter, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, salt and vanilla.
-On low-medium heat, stir the maple mixture till it boils.
-Take off the heat and add the pecans.
-Give it another boil and allow the maple to slightly caramelize.
-Spread the caramelized pecans on a baking sheet.
-Bake for 10 minutes at 200C, or till fully caramelized/candied.
-Wait for the pecans to cool down. Enjoy!!
